Living authentically and intentionally is no easy task. Obstacles from within or outside of ourselves often wear a person down, leading them toward a life of settling, and emotional mediocracy. Let me help you cope with life’s many twists and turns while accompanying you on your journey to emotionally thrive. I would love to walk with you for a season, short or long, toward relief and discovery; to discover more about yourself and help you become who you want to be.
The work of my life is to help clients overcome emotional blocks that prevent them from realizing their goals, plans, and dreams - anxiety, depression, anger, confusion. I want to help you be your best self, have the best partnership, and best family possible. This will happen because you really want it. But, it also might require me helping you build healthier and more effective communication and social skills, as well as deepening your resiliency.
I have experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families in diverse settings including group and private practice, drug treatment, community mental health, and in the court system. My specializations include navigating the oft-tricky terrain of intimate partnerships as well as that of family systems. This enables me to provide life-giving individual, couples, and family therapy. Knowing how to interpret individuals’ communication styles that sometimes sound like different languages to each other, while knowing how to how to bridge the divide in their problems, enables me to bring hope and love to my clients.
Through continuous personal growth and training, I am committed to use my expertise and empathy to help any individual, couple, or family to move forward toward health and thriving. I believe that even when wounded deeply by the expectations and choices of others, or by our own unhealthy decisions, we can find our way back to life and happiness.
Specifically, the teenage years present unique challenges. Identity, orientation, sexuality, expectations, fear, social norms, and so many other influences make navigating the challenges of adolescence complex and exciting. I love working with families and individual teens to understand and resolve the conflicts, and confusion that come with this part of life.
Finally, I am passionate about helping anyone bound by a substance or behavioral dependency. Alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex, and so many other things can hijack a person’s life if allowed to do so. Personal choices, environmental pressure, and social boundaries can all contribute to a person being dependent on something to escape from, cover up pain within, or enhance their life artificially. I want to walk with you or your loved one out of this trap.
The safe and compassionate environment that I am committed to creating for each client can truly become a place of understanding and change.
